VN Driving School Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some questions that we hear a lot, along with their relevant answers.
How do I get started to get a license?
Read about it on the ICBC website.
Basically, if you have never had a driver’s license before, then you will go through the graduated licensing program and start with an “L” license. In order to get an “L” license (the first one), you have to pass a written knowledge test and you have to pass a vision test.

How hard is the vision test?
Not too hard. The vision thing is a complicated subject, and if you want to read more about it, click on this link.
The bottom line is that you need to have vision that is at minimum 20/50 (6/15) with both eyes open and with or without glasses or contacts. So, if you have one good eye and one bad one, you’ll be fine because you’ll be tested with both eyes open.
Can I retake the first written test if I fail?
Yes, you can after seven days have passed, but you’ll have to pay for it each time you take it.
Will I have driving lessons in bad weather?
Most likely No. But if you have had several lessons already and feel comfortable driving in this type of condition, then it is worth a try. It is your call. Otherwise we can reschedule your lesson without penalty.
How can I drive safely if I don’t know how to drive?
That’s why you take driving lessons. An instructor will be sitting next to you, talking to you. Furthermore, the training car you will take lessons in has dual controls, so your instructor can intervene and take over control of the vehicle if necessary. You will be in safe hands.
At VN Driving School, we will teach you how to drive safely and defensively. Get in touch with us and start off your driving lessons on the right foot.
